Swimmers don't swim because its fun. Ask any of us most of us hate it but we couldn't imagine our lives without it. Its part of us something we live for. We live for the 3 hour practice, the team parties, the long bus rides, the jokes, the friendships, the laughs, the love, the coaches you hate but appreciate later, and the sport itself. We live for the way you become a family with your team, and no one understands what happens within that pool or locker room except you and your teammates. We live for the countless songs you sing in your head when you're swimming all those laps. We live for the people who scream at you while you're swimming even though all you hear is BLAH BLAH BLAH. We live for the competition, we live for the friends, we live for the practice, and we live for the pain. We live for the team it's a part of us because we are swimmers. 'Five in the morning work outs, and stomach chiseling summer sizzling afternoon work outs. This is my life. Cut the skin to the bone and leave the bullshit alone, no one works harder than a swimmer. We swim more than any other sport runs. Other athletes can talk as much crap as they want, but they have no idea the pain that we go through. I swim because I love it. I train because that is my little time of perfectness in my life. I train because there is someone out there bigger and better than me; And because I know there is always some one out there that could kick my ass in any race possible that makes me train harder. It just keeps on going on and on and it doesn't stop. The lessons you learn, the 1st place ribbons, and the friends you meet are more valuable to us than any celebrities' mansion. You might think looking at a slim black line for two or so hours at a time might be boring, but for us it's a lot better than sitting our asses down playing x-box or watching TV. Swimming: from the outside, you just won't get it. From the inside, you just can't explain it.
